Our story

Built by neighbors, for neighbors

Coosaw Point Volunteers was born from a simple belief: that the people who live in a community are its greatest resource. Since 2022, we have turned that belief into action.

Who we are

Neighbors Helping Neighbors

Coosaw Point Volunteers (CPV) is an independent, resident-led organization dedicated to preserving, improving, and enriching life at Coosaw Point through organized volunteer service. We are not just a committee of the POA — we are neighbors who choose to show up.

What started as a small group of residents looking for ways to reduce POA costs and strengthen community bonds has grown into a thriving network of 150 enrolled volunteers. Through its programs and initiatives, CPV also supports more than 20 volunteer groups throughout the community, helping connect people, resources, and opportunities for service. Together, these efforts have delivered an estimated $145,000 or more in savings to the Coosaw Point POA, while building something even more valuable: a community that knows, supports, and cares for one another.

How we got here

A brief history of CPV

2022

The idea takes root

A group of Coosaw Point residents recognized that organized volunteer effort could meaningfully reduce POA costs and deepen community connection. CPV was founded on that premise — neighbors helping neighbors in a structured, sustainable way.

2022

Building the foundation

CPV established its first volunteer groups, developed the community Emergency Response Plan, launched First Aid and CPR training, and created a Hurricane Preparedness Guide tailored to Coosaw Point. The organization grew quickly as residents saw real results.

2023

Expanding our reach

New groups formed to address heritage preservation, environmental stewardship, and community partnerships. The Laurel Hill Cemetery Preservation Committee established and CPV deepened ties with Second Helpings, Dragon Boat, Beaufort and St. Francis Thrift Shop.

2024–2026

Growth and the Revival Plan

CPV continued to grow its volunteer base and project portfolio, introducing the CPV Methods and Revival Plan — a framework for sustaining and expanding volunteer impact across all 20+ groups. By 2026, cumulative POA savings exceeded an estimated $145,000.

How we work

The CPV Methods & Revival Plan

The CPV Methods and Revival Plan is our framework for building a volunteer organization that lasts. It is built on four core principles that guide everything we do.

1

Organize around strengths

Every volunteer group is built around the skills and passions of the residents who lead it. We match people to work they care about — which is why our volunteers keep showing up.

2

Measure and share impact

We track the value of every project — in dollars saved, hours donated, and outcomes achieved — and share that data with the community. Visible impact drives continued participation.

3

Keep it accessible

No dues. No minimum commitment. No barriers. CPV is designed so that any Coosaw Point resident can participate at whatever level fits their life.

4

Build for continuity

Leadership transitions, new group formation, and volunteer onboarding are all part of the plan. CPV is built to outlast any individual leader and grow with the community.

Brand renewal

New CPV badge markRenewed

When CPV launched in 2022, our logo was a bright lime green badge — energetic and grassroots, perfectly suited to a scrappy new organization finding its footing. Five years later, with 150+ volunteers, 20+ groups, and an estimated $145,000 in community impact, it was time for our identity to grow up alongside us.

The 2026 brand renewal kept everything that mattered — the circular badge, the joined hands, the 'Neighbors Helping Neighbors' tagline — and refined it. The new mark moves from lime green to a deep navy and teal palette, with a more detailed illustration that reflects the full range of our volunteer community: multigenerational, skilled and unskilled, and always ready to show up.

Three words guided the renewal: Extend Reach, Multigenerational, Skilled & Unskilled. The new identity is designed to speak to every Coosaw Point resident — not just those who already know us.

Extend reach

The refreshed identity is designed to attract new volunteers and make CPV visible and welcoming to residents who have not yet connected with us

Multigenerational

The new mark reflects a community of volunteers of all ages — from longtime residents to newcomers, retirees to working families

Skilled & unskilled

CPV has always had a place for every neighbor regardless of background. The renewed brand makes that message explicit and visible

Neighbors Helping Neighbors

The tagline is unchanged — because it was right from the start, and it still says everything that needs to be said

Looking ahead

Our vision for Coosaw Point

"We believe Coosaw Point can be a model for what neighbor-led community service looks like at its best — organized, impactful, and deeply rooted in the relationships between the people who live here. Our vision is a community where every resident who wants to contribute has a clear path to do so, where volunteer effort is recognized and sustained, and where the work of CPV continues to grow in scope and impact for years to come."
